4 Activities for Seniors to Enjoy this Summer

|

With summer arriving, it’s an excellent opportunity to take advantage of the great weather. Looking for fun summer activities for seniors to get a loved one up and moving? Here are four they’re sure to love.

Water Aerobics

One way to beat the heat this summer is to spend time in the pool. Join a water aerobics class to cool off and exercise. Studies show aquarobics is a low-impact way to increase your heart and lung health. Have fun – and feel better – this season!

Cold Treats

One of the all-time best ways to pass the summer months is to enjoy a cold treat. Getting ice cream, frozen yogurt, or popsicles makes for an indulgent senior activity everyone will enjoy. You can visit a plain old ice cream parlor or make an event of it. Invite a group of people for an ice cream sundae bar. Also, location matters! Hit up a favorite spot with someone you love and a sweet treat. Ice cream is good, but good company is even better.

Take A Nature Walk

Another great activity for seniors this summer is to get outdoors to view some flora and fauna. Take up birding or learn more about local flowers that will be in season. When you’re out on your next walk, picnic, or time at the park, take a look around and soak in the scenic surroundings. When you open the door to recognizing the sights and sounds around you, it’s like rediscovering the world.

Travel

The best part about Independent Living is that your to-do list is whatever you’re in the mood for. With travel picking up again, try planning for a trip to see a loved one or to a place you haven’t been yet. It’s your time to enjoy your golden years to the fullest. Get out and see it all!
