Patriots Glen Life Enrichment Department develops a monthly calendar offering a variety of opportunities for our residents to enjoy outside the community, designed to meet their needs and desires. Our excursions include weekly shopping trips, scenic drives, lunch outings, a monthly swing dance with live music, and trips to local attractions. Our bus has a lift, so we are able to accommodate wheelchairs, walkers, and most motorized chairs.
My family members can’t get out much, are there programs for them to do in the community?
Patriots Glen offers a variety of on-site activities. One of our most popular is our weekly afternoon Happy Hour with live entertainment. Our residents enjoy educational presentations, cooking demonstrations, sing-a-longs, arts and crafts, trivia and mind games, volunteer pet visits, and special themed events. Several of our big hits each year are the visiting petting zoo, the Victorian Carolers with Santa, Bellevue Concert Band, and our Easter Egg Hunt with the Easter Bunny. We also offer church services, Bible studies, and communion services. Family and friends are always welcome to join us!
Do the residents have the opportunity to exercise?
Patriots Glen has developed a wonderful fitness program six days a week that keeps us active as well as socially engaged. Physical activity is encouraged and everyone is invited to participate at their own level. Our unique program offers light weights, tension bands, gentle aerobic movements and music. We also have a walking group that is quite popular.

Memory Care
What do residents do for entertainment in the memory care area?
The memory care staff provides engaging group sing-a-longs, art projects, games, and reminiscing. Memory care residents are given opportunities throughout the day to be involved in social group and individual activities. Some of our current favorite activities are baking with the staff, spa like aromatherapy, being read to, laughing, telling jokes and just having fun.
Do the memory care residents exercise?
Exercise and physical activity is very important, and a variety of activities are offered. We enjoy the socialization with group exercise “class” using light weights, tension bands, kick ball and balloon volleyball. Residents also benefit from one on one engagement such as bean bag toss, catch, walking outside in our lovely courtyard, or even a stroll down the hall.
Do you offer parties or entertainment specifically in memory care?
Patriots Glen memory care community is very close knit and any chance we have to celebrate we do! Everyone has a special Birthday Party with a fresh baked cake, festive decorations, balloons and of course a serenade. We have live entertainment tailored to our special audience that come twice a month. Some of our favorites are pet visits, Catholic Communion, carolers at Christmas – with Santa of course, and the Easter Bunny. Family involvement is always welcome and encouraged.
Do residents ever leave the memory care area?
Most definitely! Memory Care residents enjoy going on scenic bus rides or participating in entertainment programs throughout the community accompanied by their family or a Patriots Glen team member. When the weather is nice, we spend time outside on the lovely secured courtyard.
Can people with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia benefit from these recreation programs?
Yes! Residents with memory issues require meaningful moments, mental stimulation, and relaxing time throughout the day. Implementing a thoughtfully designed resident engagement program helps to reduce wandering, falls, sundowning, restless nights and agitation.
